My Approach

A Life of Balance

I believe that everyone has unexplored potential to become more empowered, mobile and stronger. My goal is to work with you and your support network to develop an individualised treatment plan, addressing your concerns in order to achieve a more functional self. Rather than only alleviating your presenting symptoms, I focus on exploring, identifying and treating underlying causes for dysfunction and pain, often influenced by

social, environmental, emotional &  mental as well as the physical factors.

Pain is a personal journey, and wherever it comes from, improving it is within your power. Your body is mouldable. It can change. You can strengthen your body back into alignment, piece by piece, and regain the confidence you once had in your body. Take back control of your life , let me give you the tools towards strengthening your body into healthier alignment, gaining total body awareness, improving strength, flexibility and balance resulting in a renewed physical and mental state.

Alexa McDonald

2016 | BHSc Musculoskeletal therapy
2013 | STOTT Mat & Reformer Pilates Accreditation
2013 | ASCA Strength & Conditioning Coach Lvl 1
2011 | Cert III, Cert IV & Dip Fitness professional
2008 | AUSTSWIM & Swim Australia Swimming Coach

My Journey into the Health & Fitness industry started as a  casual swimming coach for babies right up to college aged students, whilst I was studying to become a vet. 3 yrs later, I decided to turn my passion for the sports & health industry into my career and shifted towards freestyle group exercise; instructing classes such as Aqua aerobics, Bootcamp, HIIT, Functional Training & Boxing. This naturally progressed towards personal training where I was coaching more and more clients with ongoing pain and dysfunction which led me to complete my internationally recognised STOTT Pilates qualification to further my understanding of biomechanics and rehabilitation. Eventually, whilst battling my own shoulder rehabilitation, I became fascinated with the body's ability to heal when given the balanced and optimal conditions to do so, and completed my Bachelor in Health Science Musculoskeletal therapy degree.

My passion for integrative healthcare has come from the experience I gained when working closely with osteopaths, physiotherapists and other allied health professionals, as well as my own passion for movement.
